Meet Our Clinic Cats at our Cat-Friendly Hospital

As a Cat Friendly veterinary practice, we strive to create a welcoming and low-stress environment for our feline patients. During your visit, you may spot our resident clinic cats—Scuttle, Mable, and Buddy—exploring the hospital, supervising daily operations, or finding the perfect sunny spot for a nap.

 

Each of our clinic cats has their own unique personality and plays a special role in making Northside feel like home. Be sure to say hello if you see them around!

Meet Scuttle, Northside's self-appointed greeter, explorer, and professional troublemaker! If you've visited Northside before, chances are you've spotted him roaming the hospital, supervising staff, or attempting to convince unsuspecting clients to take him home. Known for his adventurous spirit and talent for sneaking into cars, Scuttle keeps everyone on their toes.

Scuttle joined the Northside family in 2012 after originally belonging to Dr. Wood's mother. Since then, he's become a beloved fixture around the hospital and a favorite among staff and clients alike.

​

In 2025, Scuttle celebrated an incredible 21st birthday! While he may be a senior gentleman, he certainly doesn't act like one. Whether he's causing a little mischief or making his daily rounds, Scuttle proves that age is just a number.

Meet Mable, Northside's fearless Director of Security! While she may be small in stature, she takes her job very seriously. Since joining the Northside family in 2014, Mable has spent her days patrolling the grounds, keeping a watchful eye on the property, and making sure any unwelcome critters know they're not invited.
 

Most of the time, you'll find Mable outside conducting important security business. However, she occasionally clocks out for a quick snack break or a well-deserved nap before heading back to work. Don't let her size fool you—Mable runs a tight ship and takes great pride in keeping Northside safe and secure.

Meet Buddy, Northside's resident receptionist and professional greeter! Buddy joined the Northside family in 2018 after being rescued by a Good Samaritan. As the unfortunate victim of a gunshot wound, Buddy ultimately lost a leg, but that hasn't slowed him down one bit. As our beloved tripod kitty, he proves every day that resilience comes in all shapes and sizes.
 

You'll usually find Buddy relaxing near the reception desk, keeping an eye on the front lobby and welcoming visitors with his signature chirps. Friendly, laid-back, and always ready for attention, Buddy has become a favorite among clients and staff alike.
